The Canadian Federal Government’s main department (ministry) that oversees all aspects of dealing with disasters and large-scale emergencies. They also define what is and is not ‘critical infrastructure’. This organization helps put in context how Canada conceptualizes or defines disasters and emergencies.

/ The Canadian Disaster Database

Under Public Safety Canada. This database is a record of all events in Canadian history starting at the year 1900 that Canada qualifies as disasters. This includes all disaster categories from a Canadian perspective and search functions by both list and geographic map.

/ Emergency Management Ontario

A Canadian Provincial Emergency Management organization. Has historically been moved between different ministries. As of 2025, is within the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General. Their main page now redirects to their training website for Emergency Management specific knowledge and training.

of Emergency Management

Regarded as one of the most advanced Emergency Management departments at a municipal level within Ontario. The Emergency Management department within the city of Brampton has historically been used as a model or pseudo-standard for other municipal departments to learn from, especially within Ontario.

of Emergency Management

The City of Mississauga neighbours Brampton and is within the same region (Peel Region). While they have similar population sizes they have different risk profiles. While a great resource for people who live in Mississauga, this is also a valuable resource for comparison with its neighbouring city of Brampton.

A government provided guide to the Employment Standards Act (Ontario). As Health and Safety regulations fall within this act, it is the main resource for determining what an organization needs to do in Ontario to be labour compliant (provincially).

An Ontario government resource page that assists organizations with meeting the Employment Standards Act. Also serves as a resource page for individuals to find resources that help when their employer is not meeting the Employment Standards Act.

The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (Ontario). A government agency that administers the system under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act. When a significant injury happens at work, they get involved.

The Canadian Branch of the Intentional Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC). This organization does a lot of different things but tends to generally specialize in logistics. In a disaster scenario they are usually involved in getting the stuff people need to the people that need it.
